Georgiy Derbas-Richter

Baritone

Ukrainian baritone Georgiy Derbas-Richter studied at the Kyiv Conservatory and came to the Netherlands in the spring of 2022 to audition for Dutch National Opera Studio. When war broke out in his homeland, fundraising allowed him to be admitted to the Studio early. At Dutch National Opera, he has sung the roles of Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas in the pop temple Paradiso, Morales in Bizet’s Carmen and Curio in Handel’s Giulio Cesare. He was also involved in the Studio project Kings & Queens, and he sang the role of Lovec (the Hunter) in Rusalka, Lesbo in Agrippina and The Baritone in The Four Note Opera

Georgiy: “My past year at the Dutch National Opera Studio has already been incredibly enlightening. I was able to gain a lot of experience on different stages and with different projects. Working and preparing for your roles with the coaches every day also helps you a lot. It is a great honour to be part of the Studio and in the coming year I simply want to keep growing and to keep developing myself in new productions and new roles.”

  • In May 2024, Georgiy Derbas-Richter sings the role of Marco (Gianni Schicchi) in Il trittico at Dutch National Opera.
