Peter Lockwood

Peter Lockwood (rehearsal director) was born in New Zealand and studied at the Royal College of Music and the National Opera Studio in London. He started his career as a coach, rehearsal director and continuo player with Scottish Opera (1982- 1983) and the Muntschouwburg in Brussels (1983-1993), and has been with Dutch National Opera since 1993. Peter Lockwood has worked with internationally renowned conductors like Sir John Pritchard, Riccardo Chailly, Christoph von Dohnányi, Sir Simon Rattle, Marek Janowski, Charles Dutoit, Hartmut Haenchen, Carlo Rizzi, Paolo Carignani and Edo de Waart.
He works on the development and training of young singers, and he is a vocal and musical consultant with the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation.
