Meisje Barbara Hummel

Meisje Barbara Hummel studied music-theatre directing at the Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler' in Berlin. She was directing assistant and head of direction at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden from 1989 to 2006, where she worked with Ruth Berghaus, Willy Decker, Andreas Homoki and Peter Konwitschny, among others. She was the revival director for various productions by Willy Decker worldwide and created her own productions of Undine, Die Csárdásfürstin, La vie parisienne and Eine Nacht in Venedig. Since 2006, she has worked as assistant director and coordinator of the directing staff at Dutch National Opera.
