Assistant chorus master

Ad Broeksteeg studied piano, choral and orchestral conducting and is much in demand as a conductor and repetiteur. As a conductor, he has led performances of big works for orchestra, choir and soloists, as well as various staged and concertante operas by Verdi, Puccini, Bellini and Mascagni. As a pianist and repetiteur, he coaches and accompanies vocalists in the preparation and performance of opera, oratorio and song repertoire, and has extensive experience as a church organist and continuo player. Broeksteeg is a regular rehearsal pianist with Groot Omroepkoor, Opera Vlaanderen, and the IVC ’s-Hertogenbosch and guest conductor with several leading choirs in the Netherlands. He also is accompanist with the opera and operetta ensemble LOL (Laat Operette Leven), which performs both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Since 2015, Broeksteeg has been an assistant chorus master with the Dutch National Opera Chorus, and in this capacity, he has worked on many large-scale chorus productions. He was previously responsible for rehearsing the chorus for Der Zwerg (Von Zemlinsky), Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy) and in season 2023-2024 for Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Weill), which will be performed at Dutch National Opera from 6 September to 27 September 2023.
