Opera Film performance of Pique Dame, 22 September on Waterlooplein

In collaboration with Dutch National Opera & Ballet, the Waterloopleinmarkt is presenting an open-air Opera Film performance of Pique Dame, Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece about gambling addiction and hidden desires. This moving opera classic, which has been an audience favourite ever since its world premiere, formed one of the highlights of the last Holland Festival! The compelling opera was composed in a period of turmoil for Tchaikovsky and his hidden desires come to the fore in the stirring music.

Pique Dame will be shown on Waterlooplein (opposite Episode) on 22 September, from 20.00 to 23.15. There is seating for 250 people. In the case of bad weather, the film will be shown in the City Hall cinema. The entrance is on the Waterlooplein side of the building.
