Thando Mjandana

South African tenor Thando Mjandana was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House in London for the 2021/22 season. Here he sang roles like Philistine messenger in Samson et Dalila, Noble of Brabant in Lohengrin and Gastone de Letorières in La traviata. At Cape Town Opera he sang the roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Remendado in Carmen. Mjandana also performed roles such as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with Oxford Sinfonia, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at Waterperry Opera Festival, and Caliban in the world premiere of Georg Haas’ Sycorrax at Bühen Bern. At Dutch National opera, he previously performed the roles of Crabman in Porgy and Bess (2018) and Policeman 1/Male congregant 1 in Blue (2022).

April-May 2024 Thando Mjandana will return to Dutch National Opera for the role of Lord Cecil in Roberto Devereux.
