Positano Premio for Wheeldon

Christopher Wheeldon was awarded the Positano Premio la Danza Léonide Massine. This honour was presented for the 42th time by an international board of dance critics during a gala in the Italian Positano on Tuesday 9 September 2014.
Wheeldon was named Choreographer of the Year for two ballets he created at The Royal Ballet (London, UK) last season: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Winter’s Tale. Dutch National Ballet will be dancing two of Wheeldon’s works during the 2014-2015 season: Cinderella in December 2014 and a world première in Cool Britannia, June 2015.
The Positano Premio la Danza Léonide Massine
These awards originated in 1969. They got their current name ten years later, when Léonide Massine passed away. Among its winners are Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nereyev, Natalia Makarova, Natalia Osipova and Yuri Grigorovitsj.
