Baritone

Dutch baritone Roger Smeets has a more than 35-year international career. He has worked with directors such as Barrie Kosky, Pierre Audi, Robert Wilson, Robert Carsen, Andreas Homoki, and Klaus-Michael Grüber, and with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Sir Simon Rattle, Reinbert de Leeuw, Iván Fischer, Marc Albrecht and Edo de Waart. He sang roles such as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, the title role in Don Giovanni and Escamillo in Carmen. Previous engagements took him to the Komische Oper Berlin, Opéra national de Paris and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, among others.
