Australian-German director Barrie Kosky is one of the most in-demand directors in the opera and theatre world. His productions have been presented at the Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House London, Opernhaus Zurich, Opéra national de Paris, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and the Salzburg Festival and Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, among others. From 2012-2022, he was intendant and chief director of the Komische Oper Berlin. At Dutch National Opera, he made his debut with Gluck's Armide (2013). During the season 2021-22, Kosky returned to Amsterdam for a three-year Puccini cycle, the first of which was Tosca. In 2022-23 he returned for Turandot, which will be followed by Il trittico in May 2024. In November 2023, Barrie Kosky was awarded the title 'Director of the Year' at the International Opera Awards.

  • In season 2023-2024, the last opera in the Puccini cycle, Il trittico, will follow and Kosky will also return for a new production for DNO, Agrippina.
